# AV over IP Made Simple with the CYP IP-7000 Series

## Why AV over IP used to be hard

First-generation AV over IP systems required expensive 10Gbps managed switches, specialist network engineering, and tight latency budgets. That limited AV over IP to corporate installations where the IT department was in the loop. Residential and small commercial integrators stuck with HDMI matrix switching because it was simpler.

## What's changed

Two things: (1) adaptive compression codecs like CYP's AVLC brought bandwidth requirements down to what standard 1Gbps switches can handle, and (2) turnkey encoder/decoder/controller products removed the network engineering complexity. An integrator can now deploy AV over IP using off-the-shelf switches, with configuration happening through a point-and-click web GUI.

## CYP IP-7000 in practice

A typical CYP IP-7000 installation looks like this:

- **Source side** — each source device (Apple TV, Sky box, computer, media player) plugs into an IP-7000 encoder

- **Network** — encoders and decoders connect to a standard 1Gbps managed switch with IGMP snooping

- **Display side** — each display connects to an IP-7000 decoder via HDMI

- **Control** — a central IP-7000 controller manages routing, with drivers for Control4, Crestron and Savant

## Why specify IP-7000 over traditional matrix
