The KNX usability gap
KNX is the dominant residential automation protocol across Europe and the GCC — robust, vendor-neutral, and backed by thousands of certified products. But KNX's native user interfaces are often clunky: push-buttons, basic panels, and proprietary apps that don't match modern smart home expectations.
What 1Home does
1Home sits on top of an existing KNX installation and gives it a modern face. A single hardware bridge (the KNX IoT Server) talks to the KNX bus and exposes it to the 1Home app, Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Matter. The integrator keeps all their KNX work — devices, group addresses, ETS project — and adds smartphone, tablet and voice control on top.
Key features
- Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Matter integration out of the box
- 1Home branded app for phone and tablet with custom dashboards
- Scene and scheduling engine running on the bridge (no cloud dependency)
- Full KNX group address exposure — lighting, blinds, climate, security
- Plug-and-play setup with existing ETS projects
Why Cache chose 1Home
For GCC integrators delivering KNX projects, 1Home removes the single biggest client complaint — "the KNX interface is ugly" — without forcing a rebuild. Clients get Apple Home or Google Home in their villa, integrators keep their KNX-based design, and Cache provides Dubai stock and pre-sales technical support.
