CoolAutomation is the global leader in HVAC integration for smart home and building automation. Their product range acts as a universal translation layer between the proprietary communication protocols used by air conditioning manufacturers and the open control platforms that integrators and end users rely on. In practical terms, CoolAutomation makes any air conditioning system controllable from any automation platform, any voice assistant, and any BMS without needing the AC manufacturer's own gateway, app, or proprietary ecosystem. Installed across more than 50,000 sites in over 100 countries, CoolAutomation products have become the default specification for HVAC integration among professional integrators worldwide.

Cache is the authorised GCC distributor for CoolAutomation, stocking the full product range in our Dubai warehouse for trade customers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. We provide technical support, system design assistance, compatibility verification, and project level pricing. HVAC integration is one of the most frequently requested and most frequently problematic elements of any smart home or building automation project. Cache has direct experience with CoolAutomation deployments across residential villas, commercial offices, hotels, and mixed use developments throughout the region, and our team can help ensure the right product is specified for the AC system on site before equipment arrives. The HVAC integration problem

Air conditioning is the single most used system in any building in the GCC. It is also one of the most difficult systems to integrate into a smart home or building automation platform. The reason is straightforward. Every AC manufacturer uses its own proprietary communication protocol to connect indoor units, outdoor units, and wired controllers. Daikin uses a different protocol to Mitsubishi Electric, which is different to Samsung, which is different to LG, and so on across every brand in the market. These protocols are not published openly and are not designed to interface with anything outside the manufacturer's own control ecosystem.

This creates a practical problem for integrators. A villa may have Daikin VRV units installed by the MEP contractor, but the client wants Control4 or KNX automation throughout the home. The Daikin system does not speak Control4 or KNX natively. The AC manufacturer's own Wi Fi gateway connects to the Daikin app but does not expose the system to third party control platforms in a way that allows full bi directional integration with setpoint control, mode selection, fan speed adjustment, and real time temperature feedback.

CoolAutomation solves this by sitting between the AC system's communication bus and the automation platform, translating in both directions. The automation system sees the AC units as fully controllable devices with real time status feedback, and the AC system receives commands as though they came from its own wired controller. The integration is transparent, reliable, and does not interfere with the AC system's native operation or warranty.

CoolMaster and CoolMasterPro

The CoolMaster is the product most frequently specified for residential and commercial HVAC integration projects. It connects directly to the AC system's communication bus and provides control of connected indoor units via a single gateway. Output protocols include RS232, TCP/IP, BACnet, Modbus, and dry contact, covering the control interfaces used by all major home automation, building automation, and BMS platforms. For integrators working with Control4, Crestron, Savant, RTI, KNX, or commercial BMS systems, the CoolMaster provides a clean, documented API that makes driver integration straightforward.

The CoolMasterPro offers identical functionality and protocol support but with a higher indoor unit capacity, making it the appropriate choice for larger installations such as hotels, commercial office buildings, hospitals, university campuses, and high density residential developments where the number of connected AC units exceeds the standard CoolMaster's limit.

Both models feature auto detection of connected indoor units during setup, which significantly reduces commissioning time compared to manual addressing. Once connected to the AC bus, the gateway scans the network, identifies all indoor units, and makes them available for control within minutes rather than hours. For most residential villas and apartments in the GCC, the standard CoolMaster provides more than sufficient capacity. For larger projects, the CoolMasterPro simply extends that same proven capability to a higher unit count.

CoolPlug

Not every project requires a multi unit gateway. The CoolPlug is designed for single indoor unit integration, providing the same protocol translation capability as the CoolMaster but in a compact form factor that connects to one AC unit and exposes it to the automation platform via Wi Fi. This makes CoolPlug the practical choice for retrofit projects where a single room or zone needs to be brought into an existing smart home system, for serviced apartments where each unit has independent AC control, and for projects where running communication bus wiring back to a central gateway is not feasible.

CoolPlug supports Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, MQTT, and REST API control, making it accessible for both professional integrators and technology aware end users who want AC integration without a full automation system. For residential projects in the GCC where a client wants Siri or Alexa voice control of their AC without installing a whole home automation platform, CoolPlug delivers that capability with minimal hardware and minimal installation time.

CoolLinkHub and CoolLinkBridge

The CoolLinkHub provides cloud connected HVAC management for multi site and multi unit deployments. It enables remote monitoring, control, scheduling, and energy reporting across all connected AC systems via a centralised cloud dashboard. For property management companies, hotel groups, facilities managers, and landlords with multiple buildings or units, CoolLinkHub provides visibility and control over HVAC operation without needing physical access to each site.

The CoolLinkBridge extends this capability by providing a local hardware gateway that connects to the AC bus and communicates with the CoolLink cloud platform. Together, these products create a complete remote HVAC management solution that is increasingly relevant in the GCC market where property portfolios are large, building access can be restricted, and energy costs associated with air conditioning represent a significant operational expense.

Compatibility and protocol support

CoolAutomation maintains the widest AC brand compatibility of any HVAC integration manufacturer. Their products support the communication protocols of Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba, Carrier, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Hitachi, Samsung, LG, Midea, Gree, Haier, York, Trane, and many others. This compatibility is maintained through ongoing firmware development as AC manufacturers update their systems and release new models.

On the automation side, CoolAutomation supports KNX, Control4, Crestron, Savant, RTI, Loxone, Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, and REST API. This breadth of support means that regardless of which AC brand the MEP contractor has installed and which automation platform the integrator has specified, CoolAutomation has a product and a protocol pathway that connects the two.

It is worth noting that compatibility should always be verified against the specific AC model and system configuration on each project. CoolAutomation publishes detailed compatibility tables, and Cache can assist with verification before purchase to ensure the correct product variant is specified for the equipment on site. Getting this right at specification stage avoids the most common source of HVAC integration problems on residential and commercial projects.

Why HVAC integration matters in the GCC

In most markets worldwide, HVAC is one system among many in a building automation project. In the GCC, air conditioning is the dominant system. It runs for the majority of the year, represents the largest single energy cost in most residential and commercial buildings, and is the system that occupants interact with most frequently. A smart home that can control lighting, blinds, and audio but cannot manage the AC system in the same interface is incomplete in a way that is immediately obvious to any client living in this region.

CoolAutomation provides the integration layer that makes comprehensive HVAC control possible regardless of which AC equipment is already installed. For new build projects, it gives the automation integrator freedom to specify the best control platform for the client without being constrained by AC brand compatibility. For retrofit projects, it brings existing AC systems into a modern automation framework without replacing any HVAC hardware. In both scenarios, the result is a system where the client controls their air conditioning from the same interface, the same app, and the same voice commands as everything else in the building.
