An HDMI splitter takes one source and sends the same signal to multiple displays (e.g. 1 in, 4 out — all screens show the same content). A matrix switcher lets you route any of multiple inputs to any of multiple outputs independently, so different rooms can display different sources at the same time.
HDBaseT extends 4K HDMI up to 100m over a standard Cat6 cable — far beyond the 10-15m practical limit of passive HDMI cables. It also carries power (PoC/PoH), IR, RS-232 and LAN on the same run, making it the professional choice for UAE villa, hotel and commercial AV installations.
AV over IP is the better choice when you need more than 8-10 sources or zones, when your installation is spread across a large building, or when you want to integrate AV distribution into an existing IT network infrastructure. For smaller, self-contained systems (e.g. a 4-zone villa), a dedicated HDMI matrix switcher is typically simpler and more cost-effective.
