A smart home in Qatar needs four things: a wired control backbone such as KNX, air conditioning brought under that same system, an IP video intercom on the same network, and genuine products supplied with manufacturer warranty and support. Those four hold for a villa in Al Waab or West Bay Lagoon just as they do for an apartment in Lusail or The Pearl. This guide explains what each one means for Doha and Lusail projects, and how Cache supplies them to integrators from Dubai.
A smart home system brings lighting, shading, climate, entrance and audio visual onto one control platform, so the home runs on scenes and schedules rather than a dozen separate apps. An integrator designs, installs and programmes the system, and sources the products through a distributor.
Cache is one of those distributors. We are a Dubai based trade distributor supplying integrators, installers and AV contractors across the GCC, including Qatar. We do not install. Our Qatar page lists what we supply into the country.
Doha villas, whether in a compound or standalone, usually run on VRF, VRV or split air conditioning, and the owner is free to choose the control platform. Towers in Lusail, The Pearl and West Bay are more often on district cooling, with a fan coil unit in each apartment and a thermostat in each room.
The control backbone, the intercom and the supply chain are the same in both cases. The only difference is how the cooling is brought onto the system, which is covered below.
For a new villa or a fit out, a wired control system such as KNX or Loxone runs lighting, shading and scenes without depending on Wi-Fi or on one app's cloud. The owner still wants to use the apps already on their phone, and that is where the integration layer comes in.
A 1Home Server KNX Pro sits on top of an existing KNX installation and brings it into Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa, and lets Matter devices join, without replacing anything underneath. 1Home also makes Server versions for Loxone and Crestron Home. Cache distributes 1Home across the GCC, including Qatar, and is the exclusive 1Home distributor in the UAE. Our guide to KNX home automation and Apple Home goes deeper.
Cooling is the largest load in a Qatar home and the system the owner touches most. Leave it on separate wall controllers and the home is only half automated.
For VRF, VRV and split systems, the CoolAutomation CoolMaster is a gateway that connects them to home automation and building management platforms, including over BACnet. The control system then sees every indoor unit, so cooling can be scheduled, zoned and switched by scene with the rest of the home. Cache is the sole GCC distributor for CoolAutomation. Background on the system type is in our VRF explainer.
For apartments on district cooling, the fan coil unit in each room is run by its thermostat. Specify networked thermostats that sit on the control system rather than standalone wall units, so the apartment's cooling follows the same scenes and schedules as its lighting. Our smart thermostat page covers the options we supply.
Gates, lobby doors and front doors are used every day, so they belong on the same system. DoorBird IP video door stations run over the network and call the DoorBird app on up to eight phones or tablets, or a wall mounted indoor station. Because they run over IP, they connect to control platforms including Control4, Loxone, Crestron, RTI, ELAN and Fibaro. For a villa compound, that means one intercom standard for the gatehouse and every house behind it.
Cache ships to Qatar from Dubai. Integrators register for a dealer account for trade pricing, and our sales team confirms stock, lead times and delivery costs for each order. Every product is genuine, manufacturer backed stock, so warranty, firmware updates and spares are handled through us rather than left with the owner. Technical support for design and commissioning is available to integrators before and after the order.
Wired backbone, KNX or Loxone. Outlasts any single app or Wi-Fi network.
Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa on top. Day to day control on the owner's own phone.
VRF or split on a CoolMaster gateway. Villa cooling scheduled and zoned with the rest of the home.
Networked thermostats on fan coil units. Lusail and Pearl apartments on district cooling follow the same scenes.

Yes. Apartments on district cooling use a fan coil unit in each room, controlled by a thermostat. Specifying networked thermostats that sit on the control system lets cooling follow the same scenes and schedules as lighting and shading, instead of being set room by room on the wall.

A CoolAutomation CoolMaster gateway connects VRF, VRV, split and air to water heat pump systems to home automation and building management platforms, including over BACnet. The control system then sees each indoor unit, so cooling can be scheduled, zoned and switched by scene with the rest of the home. Cache is the sole GCC distributor for CoolAutomation.
No. Cache is a trade distributor. Design, installation and programming are done by an integrator in Qatar, who sources products such as 1Home, CoolAutomation and DoorBird through Cache. Homeowners and developers should appoint an integrator, and we are glad to point them to one.
